The Sziget Festival is a real international rock and cultural festival. It is organized annually in Budapest. It takes place on the Óbudai-sziget (Old Buda Island), a vast natural territory with many trees and large meadows. Starting in the beginning of August (when the weather is usually very nice in Budapest), and it usually lasts 5-7 days. In the year 2009 it will take place between 2009. 8. 12. – 2009. 8. 18.
The Budapest Spring Festival is one of the largest cultural festivals in Europe. It features symphony orchestra concerts, opera and ballet performances, an operetta festival and open-air events. It is organised in the last two weeks of March. Next year it will take place between 2009. 03.20. – 2009.04.05. The performances are held in the most important theatres and concert halls in Budapest, most of which are historical monuments.
It is held on the last two days of the Budapest Spring Festival. Its role is to provide a platform for less known or underground artists both from Hungary and abroad.
The Chain Bridge, one of Budapest’s most important symbols, is closed for vehicle traffic every Saturday and Sunday between the 21st of June and the 17th of August 2009, giving way to pedestrians, bikers and families. The best Hungarian artists and craftsmen offer their goods, and not just to tourists. On both ends of the bridge, hospitality centres are set up under large sunshades, with international and typical Hungarian foods and cold drinks on sale.
The traditional Budapest Christmas Fair is organized annually between the end of November and December 24th on Vörösmarty square. It is one of the most attractive central squares of the city. The fair features musical and cultural events on stage. All products on sale are made from natural ingredients only.
Most restaurants, clubs and discos are open all night. It is arranging special programmes. The streets in the downtown area are full of people. The best street parties of Budapest during a New Year’s Eve are around the area of Váci utca and the Danube Promenade, with cheerful crowds of locals and tourists.

Every work which is included in this program has some kind of relationship with Hungary. Either the author was Hungarian, or the author was foreign but the work is in connection with Hungary. Their repertoire covers from the baroque music until the 20th century classics in almost every style. The music band represents the traditional Hungarian romantic music all over the world. Every concert starts at 20:00, and consists of twice 40-45 minutes, with an intermission.

Is one hour long organ concert in the Saint Anna church in Buda. It is one of the most beautiful baroque buildings in Budapest. The concert music was written especially for this organ by Lehotka Gábor, the professor of Budapest Music Academy. The concerts start at 8 PM, and their duration is about 60-65 minutes without intermission in between.

One of the most popular visualized Hungarian folklore dancing bands is the BM Danube Artistic Band. Members of the band are excellent professional dancers and musical instrument’s artists. The ensemble performance contains the most beautiful gem of Hungarian folklore dancing culture, while the band is a devoted to the Hungarian folklore music.

The world famous Rajkó Orchestra offers a unique musical experience. The fifty strong main orchestra and the six to eight splinter chamber groups are equally celebrated guest on the world’s most prestigious stages. They specialize in Hungarian folk dance but are equally able to perform operettas, ballet and modern dance.
